In 1983 Chip and Sally Ellms moved to the farm in Charlton and began planting Christmas trees in 1984. As the demand for a choose and cut operation grew over the years, the farm was expanded by acquiring fields from the Palmer family. In the year 2000 the dairy farm on the north side of Charlton Road, without the cows, was purchased from Bernie and Shirley Palmer. Now the entire Ellms Family farm is over 200 acres.
The Ellms family was fortunate to start with three generations in 1983 and now has its fourth generation. Bud Ellms, Chip’s father, took care of the trees for many years until he passed away in April 2007. Over time Bud, Chip, Sally, and children, Sasha, Ashley, and Garth, worked together doing tasks needed to provide an invaluable family experience. Most recently spouses, Josh and Dan, have added their expertise and grandchildren, Aven,Calla, and Ryah can be found “helping”, as well.
Due to encouragement from our loyal Christmas tree customers who wanted to enjoy the picturesque farm setting in warmer weather, we opened our fall business in 2005. We look forward to seeing you and are happy to be part of your family traditions for the holidays AND the fall season!
Come join in the fun and make us part of your family traditions!
